Under-Worktop Strips Installation Guide

Technical guidelines for a seamless installation between cabinet and worktop

The under-worktop strips (TBE) are pieces measuring approximately 4 × 230 cm that are installed between the IKEA cabinet and the worktop. Their purpose is primarily aesthetic, as they slightly raise the worktop and create a small overhang above the fronts.

We recommend installing them set back 1 cm from the CUBRO fronts, creating a clean longitudinal line between the worktop and the fronts.

Preparation

Before installing the strips, it is necessary to shift or remove the metal profile that joins the IKEA cabinet frame, depending on the type of unit: standard base cabinet or base cabinet for sink or hob ventilation.

Base Cabinet

Once all base cabinets are assembled, the metal profiles must be shifted 5 cm towards the inside of the cabinet. This creates the required space for installing the TBE.

Base Cabinet for Sink or Hob

In these cases, the IKEA metal profiles must be removed completely, as leaving them in place would prevent proper installation of both the hob and the sink.

Installation of the Under-Worktop Strips

The TBE should be installed along the entire longitudinal line of the kitchen front, both at the front and rear sides of the cabinet frames.
Perpendicular strips should also be added at the joints between cabinets to create a solid and continuous structure.

This structure ensures:

  • Proper clearance for sink and hob fittings.

  • A stable and uniform support for the worktop.

The strips are screwed directly into the edge of the cabinet side panels, at the indicated points (red points in the original diagram).

The only areas without direct fixing are the rear ends of the longitudinal strip (marked with *). In these areas, a small bracket screwed to the cabinet frame should be used.

Exposed Side Panels

If there is an exposed end panel, in addition to shifting the metal profiles as described earlier, the strip must be cut at both ends so it can rest fully on top of the profile, which should not be removed.

Corner joints

Corner joints for the under-worktop strips can be made in two ways:

  • Overlap: the main long strip overlaps the shorter one on the side

  • Mitre joint: both strips are cut at 45° for a cleaner, more aesthetic finish
