Types of Legs

Legs are an essential component in kitchen furniture assembly, as they determine the total height of the cabinet and the plinth

In IKEA kitchens, the METOD system legs are used by default, but other options are available depending on aesthetic preferences or required height. Below is a breakdown of the available options by height.

Legs ↕8 cm

By default, our system is designed for these legs, which results in a total kitchen height of 88 cm + worktop, approximately 90 cm.

METOD – Standard Leg

We use 4 legs per unit. They come in packs of 2, so you will need 2 packs per unit. The IKEA planner usually includes them, but make sure the final count is correct.

  • Height: ↕8 cm

  • Adjustment: Adjustable between 7 and 9 cm

  • Use: These are the standard METOD system legs, hidden behind the CUBRO plinth.

  • Features: Plastic and functional. Ideal for unmodified IKEA kitchen setups.

CAPITA – Decorative Leg

If you prefer visible legs, we recommend this model. We use 4 legs per unit. They come in packs of 4, so you will need 1 pack per unit.

  • Height: 8 cm

  • Adjustment: Adjustable between 8 and 9 cm

  • Use: Designed to remain visible, without a plinth. Keep in mind this option collects more dirt, as one of the functions of the plinth is to protect this hard-to-reach area.

  • Features: Stainless steel. Higher cost.

Legs > 8 cm

If your design requires greater height, you will need to use non-IKEA legs:

Adjustable Legs ↕10 to ↕12 cm

  • Height: Adjustable between 10 and 12 cm

  • Example: Model available on Amazon

  • Use: When the kitchen design requires a higher plinth, either for aesthetic or functional reasons.

Adjustable Legs ↕12 to ↕15 cm

CAPITA Legs ↕16 cm (Decorative Use)

  • Height: Adjustable between 15.5 and 17 cm

  • Use: Visible legs, commonly used in chests of drawers or furniture without plinths.

  • Features: Stainless steel. Not recommended for use with plinths.

Legs < 8 cm

If your design requires a lower height, you’ll also need non-IKEA legs:

Legs ↕5 cm

  • Height: Fixed or adjustable, depending on the model

  • Example: Model available on Amazon

  • Use: Low plinths, for more modern or customised designs.

PAX Wardrobes

PAX structures don’t use legs as such—only small round pieces that prevent direct contact with the floor. This makes it difficult to combine the METOD and PAX systems in a single design.
