How to install under-countertop strips

Guide for installing under-countertop strips in your kitchen.

Installing under-countertop strips in your kitchen is an excellent method to elevate and provide a professional finish to the countertop. In this guide, we'll provide you with step-by-step instructions for mounting these strips, which are placed between the countertop and the base cabinets. These strips are used to elevate the countertop from the cabinets and are commonly used in projects with stone countertops.

Steps for Installation

Step 1: Preparation of Base Cabinets

  1. Ensure all base cabinets are correctly assembled.
  2. Adjust metal profiles: Set back the metal profiles by 5 cm to leave space for installing the under-countertop strip. If the base cabinets have elements like a sink or cooktop installed, the metal profiles must be completely removed.
  3. For cabinets with visible sides: If the sides of the cabinets are visible, adjust the metal profiles back and, on the strip, make a shallow cut so that it fits well and rests stably on the profile. This is important for achieving a visually attractive and functionally secure installation of the countertop as a whole.

*Setting back these metal profiles means moving them back about 5 centimetres from their original position. This is done to create a space where the under-countertop strip will later be placed, ensuring that it is correctly positioned and has adequate support

Step 2: Mounting the Strips

  1. Strip position: Install the strips 1 cm inward from the edge of the base cabinets relative to our fronts. This helps ensure the countertop is well supported and aligned.
  2. Strip location: Place the strips around the perimeter of the cabinets and also perpendicular at each joint of cabinets to create a solid structure that supports the countertop.

Step 3: Fixing the Strips

  • Screw the strips in place by fixing them to the edge of the cabinets. Use brackets to secure the joints of the strip at the back, which are marked with a circle in the installation scheme.

Step 4: Joining the Corners

  • Handle the corners of the strips in two ways:
    • Squared: Place the longer strip outward so that it predominates at the corner.
    • Mitered: Although this is an option, note that this method is not used in CUBRO assemblies.

Follow these steps carefully to ensure a correct and safe installation of the under-countertop strips. Remember, these instructions are fundamental to maintaining the aesthetics and functionality of your kitchen.
