Guide to Built-In Fridges and Freezers

Compatible with the CUBRO System

A built-in fridge, freezer, or combi is the ideal solution for those who prioritise aesthetics and want a sleek, unified kitchen design. Although installation can be slightly more complex, the result usually adds visual and functional value to the kitchen furniture set.

IKEA offers a wide range of prices and models fully compatible with the CUBRO system. If you're considering a non-IKEA model, this article provides the key compatibility criteria.

You should know:

Our doors come always pre-drilled for UTRUSTA 95º hinges, which are compatible with most non-IKEA sliding doors models.

There are two types of doors in this category:

  • Sliding door: In this case, the fronts are attached to the cabinet using 95º hinges. For adjustment, here’s a tip:
    1. First, install the fixed IKEA shelf halfway inside the cabinet. This stabilises the sides when adjusting the hinges.
    2. Once adjusted, remove the fixed shelf.
    3. Insert the appliance and follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the rail so the CUBRO front can slide over the appliance door.

All IKEA fridges, freezers, and combis have a sliding door system.

    • Fixed or hinged door: The CUBRO front is directly fixed to the appliance door, which means that the pre-drilled holes won't be used.

Both types can be compatible with the CUBRO system if they meet the following specifications:

    • ↔ Width: max 56 cm

    • ⤡  Depth: max 54.8 cm

    • ↕ Height:

      • For 200 cm cabinets: max 177 cm

      • For 220 cm cabinets: max 193 cm

Below, we highlight the specific characteristics of each type.

    Combi (fridge + freezer)

Must meet one of these two criteria for the lower door height:

    • ↕ Height 694–697 mm and fixed door: Use a 200 cm cabinet as long as height is max 177 cm.

    Single-Door Fridge or Freezer

Height must match the intended cabinet:

    • For 200 cm cabinets: max 177 cm

    • For 220 cm cabinets: max 193 cm (rare for single-door models)

    Some options:

    Undercounter Fridges or Freezers

Undercounter refrigerators and freezers are a practical and functional solution for kitchens with limited space or for those looking for auxiliary appliances. They are designed to be integrated under the kitchen work surface, occupying the same space as a standard unit (usually ↔60 cm). This option is especially useful in small kitchens, second homes or as a complement to a main refrigerator.

They are ventilated through the plinth area.

We can distinguish two categories: those that go inside the cabinet and those that go without cabinet.

    Without Cabinet Integration

Easier to install since they are not fixed to furniture. Typically have fixed doors, so you only need to attach the front panel, making installation quicker.

Being freestanding also improves motor ventilation, enhancing efficiency.

    Must meet these specs:

    • Width: max 59.8 cm

    • ⤡ Depth: max 55 cm

    • ↕ Height: max 88 cm

    Examples:

    With Cabinet Integration

Less practical due to limited appliance dimensions required to fit a 60 cm cabinet:
Max ↔56 cm ↕78 cm ⤡54,8cm, plus at least 8 cm for the plinth—this severely limits capacity.

We recommend opting for the non-integrated version.
