According to IKEA instructions
There are three types of METOD modules depending on their size and position:
- Base units: floor-standing units that reach up to the worktop.
- Tall units or columns: floor-standing units of great height.
- Wall units: units hanging on the wall without touching the floor.
For any METOD unit—whether base, tall or wall—fixing the furniture is mandatory to prevent accidents.
For this purpose, a 200 cm galvanized suspension rail is used, which also ensures perfect alignment of all the cabinet frames. If your cabinet line is shorter than 200 cm, this rail must be cut.
IKEA does not supply screws for this rail, as each wall is different and requires specific types of screws. We recommend screws of at least 5 cm in length to ensure proper grip.
We recommend following IKEA’s instructions for mounting the rail, but here is a summary.
Required Tools
-
METOD suspension rail
-
Screws of at least 5 cm in length
-
Wall plugs
-
Hand saw
-
Drill
- Pencil
- Measuring tape
- METOD structure already mounted: this will allow you to better measure the height at which to place the rail.
Installation
- If your cabinet line is shorter than 200 cm, the rail must be cut into sections.
- Measure the height of the furniture, position the rail and choose where to drill. Make sure the screws align with the wall studs.
- If it is a base cabinet or column, make sure you measure from the legs.
- Drill using a suitable bit.
- Following the IKEA instructions for the cabinet structure, metal brackets are fixed to the cabinet frame, which will then hook onto the rail.
- Once the rail is fixed to the wall, the cabinet is hung on the rail and screwed to the wall.
Remember that a minimum spacing of ↕60 cm is recommended between base units and wall units.
