What should you tell the installer before assembling your kitchen?

To ensure your kitchen is assembled correctly and without unexpected issues, it's important to communicate certain key details to the installer in advance

Your kitchen has been carefully planned, but on the day of installation, there are practical decisions that must be known in advance. Some elements require specific preparation, additional tools, or just prior planning. Inform the installer of everything described below.

1. You have a dish drainer

Inform the installer if...

1. You have a dish drainer

It requires a different cabinet setup. If not taken into account, the unit may need to be disassembled and adapted.

2. Your appliances are from IKEA or not

If they are not from IKEA, there may be compatibility issues:

  • Oven and microwave: gaps may appear between the appliance and the doors. This is not the installer's responsibility.

  • Dishwasher: there may be a gap between it and the worktop. This can be covered with leftover material, if available, but must be discussed beforehand.

  • Sink, washing machine, dishwasher: water connections must be handled by a plumber.

  • Hob: electrical wiring must be done by an electrician. IKEA does not supply the cable.

3. You want to cover the extractor duct

Inform the installer from the beginning so they can assess if it can be hidden with the available materials.

4. You have plinths with ventilation grilles

These parts are installed in a specific way, especially under the hob and integrated fridge. They must allow proper ventilation and should be mentioned upfront.

5. You want to cover the gap between a non-IKEA dishwasher and the worktop

This is only possible if there is spare filler or plinth material. Let the installer know in advance so they can prepare a piece.

6. Your worktop is laminated or from a marble supplier

  • If it’s a CUBRO laminated worktop, the most aesthetic way to place the cuts is around the sink or hob. Inform the installer to plan accordingly.

  • If it’s from an external marble supplier, this may affect the assembly order and pace (e.g. pending worktop, adjustments later, etc.).

7. You have surface-mounted handles

This type of handle requires a specific drilling guide. Notify the installer in advance so they bring the correct tool.

8. You have unmachined parts

Some doors or fronts do not come pre-drilled (e.g. for non-IKEA washing machines, horizontal-opening doors, or custom doors). The installer will need a hinge drilling bit, so they must know ahead of time. You can check this in the component breakdown.

What is usually not included?

  • Floating shelves and cutlery trays are usually not installed.

  • Water and electrical connections are usually not included (except simple plugging).

  • If you’ve booked CUBRO’s installation service, they do not install appliances not purchased from CUBRO.

Changes after assembly

Any modifications arising after assembly related to the above points will be quoted separately. It's essential to have everything clear and ready from the start.
