Tensioners in large doors

Discover how CUBRO's tensioners on doors over 200 cm ensure their alignment, prolong their lifespan, and facilitate manual adjustment, essential for optimal performance

Maintaining a door properly aligned is crucial, especially when it comes to large or heavy doors. A misaligned door is not only difficult to handle, but can also cause premature wear on its components.

What are tensioners and why are they important?
Tensioners are mechanical components that act as adjustable supports, designed to compensate for the weight of large doors. These devices allow for manual adjustment of any natural deviation that may arise due to the size or weight of the door.

Using tensioners ensures that the door's load is distributed evenly, helping to prevent issues such as sagging or misalignment.

Benefits of using tensioners in doors

  • Improved functionality: With properly adjusted tensioners, doors operate more smoothly and are easier to handle.
  • Extended lifespan: Tensioners reduce the load and stress on the hinges and the door structure, resulting in less need for maintenance and frequent repairs.

Particularly important in large or heavy doors
Doors exceeding 200 cm in height or particularly heavy, in our LAMINATE or LINOLEUM ranges, especially require tensioners. These doors, made from Plywood (birch plywood), can exhibit deformations due to the living nature of the wood. Tensioners are essential to ensure that the door remains functional and aesthetically correct over time, minimizing common problems associated with weight and deformations.

On the other hand, our LACQUER and WOOD ranges, made with MDF boards, do not need tensioners as MDF, being a transformed wood, does not exhibit the same deformations.

Manual adjustment guide for tensioners
To ensure your tensioners operate optimally, follow these steps to adjust them manually:

  1. Identify the tensioner: Locate the tensioners installed on your door. They are usually found at the top and bottom of the door.
  2. Initial adjustment: Use a suitable wrench to turn the tensioner. Turning it clockwise usually increases the tension, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it.
  3. Check the door: After each adjustment, open and close the door to check its alignment. Adjust until the door moves smoothly and without abnormal noises.
  4. Periodic review: Check and adjust the tensioners periodically, especially if the door is exposed to frequent changes in temperature and humidity, which can affect its alignment.

Using tensioners in large-sized doors is a preventive measure and an investment in the longevity and effectiveness of installations. By understanding how they work and how they can be manually adjusted, you can ensure that your doors remain functional and aesthetically pleasing for much longer.
