How to design a built-in wardrobe with IKEA PAX structures

Learn the steps to integrate an IKEA PAX wardrobe into your bedroom or any other room using a drywall structure for a fully integrated result

Installation process

To install a built-in wardrobe that blends with your home's walls, you can use IKEA PAX structures. Start by hiring a builder to construct a drywall frame that fits around the wardrobe, making it look like an integral part of the home. This method is efficient, provides a clean work environment, and results in a professional and aesthetic finish.

Measurement and preparation

Before starting, it is crucial to carefully measure the area where the wardrobe will be installed. Consider the space needed for door opening and add a margin of 1 cm in height, width, and depth to ease installation.

Preferred option: Integration with drywall

Our main recommendation is to use drywall to create a frame around the IKEA PAX structures, including an additional margin of 1 cm in all dimensions for a trouble-free installation.

Alternative option: Using CUBRO cover strips

If using drywall is not possible, for example in rental properties where permanent changes are restricted, you can opt to use CUBRO cover strips and finishing pieces. This method involves:

  • Side panels that hide any visible structure of the wardrobe not next to a wall.
  • Front cover strips to adjust the space between the top of the wardrobe and the ceiling.
