How to choose between PAX bedroom system or METOD kitchen system for your wardrobe

For basic wardrobes in bedrooms, we recommend PAX. For more complex designs needing flexibility, METOD is ideal.

When choosing a wardrobe for your house, IKEA offers two great options that meet different needs: PAX and METOD systems. We help you decide which system is best for you, based on the location and expected functionality of the wardrobe.

PAX System: Ideal for clothes and accessories

PAX is IKEA’s standard wardrobe line, designed specifically to optimize storage of clothes and accessories in bedrooms.

  • Customization and accessories: PAX offers a wide range of interior accessories, such as bars to hang clothes, shelves, shoe organizers, pull-out accessories like trouser hangers, tie racks, and more. This versatility makes it perfect for those looking for specific solutions to organize clothes and accessories.
  • Value for money: Compared to METOD, PAX is more affordable, especially in terms of hardware like hinges and drawers. If you're looking for efficiency and good price without sacrificing quality, PAX is your best option.

METOD System: Perfect for combining tall wardrobes with low furniture and countertops. Although METOD is mainly recognized as a kitchen system, its sturdiness and modularity also make it suitable for use as a wardrobe in other spaces.

Sturdy construction: METOD stands out for its thicker structure (18 mm versus 16 mm of PAX), which provides greater durability and resistance.

Modularity and flexibility: This system offers a wide variety of heights, ideal for reaching the ceiling or perfectly integrating with lofts and niches. The low furniture can be used to include countertops, make combinations with tall wardrobes, and create open wardrobes or additional niches.
