Finishes: WOOD

Detailed guide on WOOD: recommendations, material properties, maintenance and care, repair, and certificates.

The WOOD range is a natural finish option that brings warmth to any space. We use natural wood coatings. We stand for natural and sustainable finishes. Each tree is unique, so each front will have its own character.

We believe in natural materials that age with you and evolve over time. We have chosen a selection of 4 natural woods with unique shades and grains.

They can be customised with various types of handles:

Integrated handles

  • ROUND
  • SQUARE
  • PILL

Surface handles

  • Plantea
  • Line
  • Super Line
  • Seta
  • Curve

Kitchen countertops

The countertop is the part of the kitchen where most of the work is done. The surface of the fronts is not prepared to handle food, be exposed to sharp objects or heat.

Certificates

The WOOD range is produced on medium density fibreboard (MDF). MDF boards are very stable and lightweight. They are produced with wood from sustainably managed forests. These boards are recyclable.

PEFC: The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management.

The PEFC label certifies that the raw material used to make the product has been sustainably sourced.

FSC: The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). It guarantees that the product comes from forests with sustainable management in ecological, social and economic aspects among others.

Veneer

A natural wood veneer is glued onto this medium density fibreboard (MDF). The natural wood veneer is extracted to obtain thin sheets that retain the unique colour and grain pattern of each type of wood.

Each front is edge-banded with the same veneer that we use on the front surface. That is, we use the same veneer for both the surface and the edges.

We finish each piece by varnishing it with neutral, matte, and non-glossy water-based varnishes. This varnish protects the surfaces from damage and possible deterioration due to use.

Wood is a natural material, no two pieces are the same. Wood is a living material, so it is constantly changing, meaning the colour can vary over time, with the most significant changes occurring at the beginning.

It will not be necessary to perform periodic care of the fronts for their maintenance.

  • It is an organic surface (you can feel the wood grain).
  • Soft touch.
  • Treatment with water-based varnishes.
  • High resistance to stains.
  • Very simple cleaning.
  • Fingerprint-resistant surface.

Finally, the edges of each front are protected with top-quality edge-banding of the same material as the surface

Properties

Each finish has its unique characteristics and properties. We recommend you consider which finish is ideal for the use you're going to give your furniture. Here are our recommendations, but you're the best judge of which one will suit you most.

Resistance to daily use

We detail how this material behaves with respect to use

The basic care and exposure to heat, bumps, scratches, stains of doors and drawers is far less than that suffered by a countertop.

Cleaning

WOOD is a natural material but it is very easy to clean. We recommend treating all fronts with care and carrying out regular cleaning to prevent dirt from accumulating on the surfaces.

Please be mindful to avoid knocks and scratches that could damage the surfaces. If the WOOD surface is damaged, the damage is very difficult to repair. Only very superficial scratches can be repaired.

Daily cleaning

Use a soft cotton cloth dampened in warm water and neutral soap.

Once the surfaces are clean, dry them with a dry cotton cloth.

You should NOT use:

  • Products that contain abrasive components as they damage the surface.
  • Products that contain highly acidic or alkaline components because they could discolor the surface.
  • Abrasive sponges or metallic scouring pads.
  • Furniture polish or products based on wax as they tend to leave a greasy layer on the fronts that traps dirt.

Stubborn stains

If regular cleaning has not been carried out and some stains have persisted and hardened, follow these instructions to remove them.

  • Apply hot water to the stain and let it act
  • When the stain has softened, remove it with a soft cotton cloth dampened in warm water and neutral soap
  • Dry the surface with a dry cotton cloth.

You can apply multipurpose cleaning products as long as they do not contain abrasive components. Once you have used these products, remember to rinse and dry the surface.

Recommendations

  • The fronts should be stored on the floor in a horizontal position. They should never be placed vertically or leaned against a wall.
  • If the fronts are stored for a while, we recommend the following environmental conditions:
      • Temperature: between 10ºC and 40ºC.
      • Humidity: between 30% and 70%.

  • Once the fronts are received, they should be checked at that moment to inform our after-sales team of any possible damage occurred during transport.
  • The characteristics of the material do not allow it to be used as a work surface.
  • The panels can be cut during assembly with a regular disc. To do so, you should make sure that the disc is well sharpened.
