Kitchen countertops

The countertop is the part of the kitchen on which most work is done. The surface of the fronts is not prepared to handle food, be exposed to sharp materials or heat.

Certificates

The LAQUER range is produced on medium density fibreboard (MDF). MDF boards are very stable and lightweight. They are produced with wood from sustainably managed forests. These boards are recyclable.

PEFC: The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management.

The PEFC label certifies that the raw material used to make the product has been sustainably sourced.

FSC: The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). It guarantees that the product comes from forests with sustainable management in ecological, social and economic aspects among others.

Veneer

Decorative paper is pressed on both sides of the board. It is this paper that gives the colour. Afterwards, a colourless matt lacquer layer with UV treatment is applied to the front side. The lacquering process is environmentally friendly, with no emissions of volatile organic compounds into the atmosphere.

The UV treatment protects the surface and gives it a high resistance among other qualities:

  • Matt surface, no gloss.
  • Silky to the touch.
  • High quality lacquer that ensures that the colour is unalterable when exposed to light or heat.
  • UV treatment: which makes the surface unalterable to exposure to light or colour.
  • High stain resistance.
  • Very easy to clean.
  • Anti-fingerprint surface.

Finally, the edges of each front are protected with a top quality ABS edging in the same colour as the surface. The edging adds strength and stability to our doors and drawers. The lacquer applied ensures that the colour is unalterable when exposed to light or heat.

Properties

Each finish has its own unique characteristics and properties. We recommend that you assess which finish is ideal for the use you are going to give to your furniture. Here are our recommendations, but you will know better than anyone which one suits you best.

Advantages over other lacquered panels

  • The surface does not shine. We avoid painted surfaces that can generate glare.
  • Paint that does not lift. With traditional lacquers the paint tends to wear off and lift. Our colourless lacquering and edging process prevents this from happening.
  • The surface of the front is not porous like traditional lacquers, so our fronts do not absorb dirt.
  • Edges are protected with top quality edgebanding. This prevents the paint from lifting at the corners. Increased resistance to knocks and moisture.
  • Colourfast front side**. The surface has a UV treatment that protects it from the effects of sunlight or heat. Traditional lacquers using paints are often highly affected by sunlight.
    • High stain resistance
    • Easy to clean
    • Anti-fingerprint surface
    • Silky touch
    • UV protection. Colourfast to lightThe colourless lacquer coating we apply brings some very interesting qualities to our range:

Maintenance and care

Cleaning

LACQUER is a hard-wearing and easy to clean material. Nevertheless, we recommend treating all fronts with care and regular cleaning to prevent dirt from accumulating on the surfaces.

Please take care to avoid bumps and scratches that could damage the surfaces. If the LACQUER surface is damaged, the damage is irreversible.

Daily cleaning

Use a soft cotton cloth dampened with warm water and neutral soap.

Once the surfaces have been cleaned dry them with a dry cotton cloth.

DO NOT use:

  • Products containing abrasive components as they damage the surface.
  • Products containing highly acidic or alkaline components as they may discolour the surface.
  • Abrasive sponges or metal scouring pads.
  • Furniture polishes or wax-based products as they tend to leave a greasy film on the fronts that traps dirt.

Stubborn stains

If regular cleaning has not been carried out and a stain has persisted and hardened, follow these instructions to remove the stain

  • Apply hot water to the stain and leave to act.
  • When the stain has softened, remove it with a soft cotton cloth dampened with warm water and neutral soap.
  • Dry the surface with a dry cotton cloth.

You can apply multi-purpose cleaning products as long as they do not contain abrasive components. Once you have used these products, remember to rinse and dry the surface.

General recommendations

The following are recommendations on how to treat the fronts properly. We are not responsible for any damage to the fronts due to misuse.

  • The fronts should be stored on the floor in a horizontal position. They should not be placed directly on the floor, they should be kept in the holder provided in the package. They should never be placed upright or leaning against a wall.
  • If the fronts are stored for a period of time, we recommend the following environmental conditions:
    • Temperature: between 10ºC and 40ºC
    • Humidity: between 30% and 70%.
  • Once the fronts are received, they should be checked on the spot in order to be able to inform our after-sales team of any possible damage that may have occurred during transport.
  • The characteristics of the material do not allow it to be used as a work surface.
  • The panels can be cut during assembly with a regular disc. To do so, you must make sure that the blade is well sharpened.
