Do PAX wardrobes come with a plinth?

The IKEA PAX wardrobe system is highly adaptable, ideal for any space including bedrooms and dressing rooms. Unlike the METOD system, PAX lacks separate plinths, offering a cleaner and more aesthetic design.

Plinths, which are decorative pieces located at the base of furniture to hide the legs, are not part of this system, thus providing a cleaner and more linear appearance while offering efficient and visually appealing storage solutions.
This design allows the feet to slide under the furniture more easily, thus bringing the hips closer to the countertop and facilitating work on the horizontal surface, resulting in a more comfortable experience during prolonged periods of work.
Design and functionality
PAX wardrobes take a different approach to plinths:
  • Integrated plinth: Instead of having separate plinths, PAX wardrobes have a plinth that is an integral part of the base of the wardrobe. This plinth is permanently fixed and cannot be removed.
  • Floor-to-ceiling doors: The doors of PAX wardrobes are often longer than the body of the wardrobe and reach down to the floor. This ensures that the integrated plinth is completely covered, providing a visually cleaner and continuous design, as well as preventing dust from entering under the wardrobe.
Comparison with METOD
While METOD is designed for kitchens with a practical focus, using removable plinths that hide adjustable legs and facilitate cleaning, it also enhances ergonomics by allowing easier access to the work area, contributing to a safer and more enjoyable culinary experience. On the other hand, PAX focuses on maximizing aesthetics and functionality in storage spaces, such as bedrooms and dressing rooms.
